We photographed a ton of bikes at the Tour Of Japan opening stage in Sakai last month. This is a round up of the more interesting ones starting with this erm, rare, US Postal Trek. For some reason you don't see so many of these around anymore...
Even comes with a bento box...
A sleek looking BH...
A classy Roc D'azur porteur...
Classic Peugeot...
A very custom Handsome Cycles x Twin Six Speedy Devil....
A high end Kestrel...
A rather nice custom Calamita CX bike...
Something may have been lost in translation with that top tube sticker...
Vintage Bridgestone...
Koga...
There were some serious road machines in the backstage/pits area. A colourful Sarto for example...
The big suppliers put their new kit on display for spectators to drool over...
The Kinan team with the cool Yonex bikes...
The Bridgestone/Anchor boys had some pretty nice rides too...
As did the Avanti team...
Elsewhere in the pits it was the usual overload of carbon and Dura Ace...
And finally, as with most things in life, the simpler the better....
We still have a few more bike shots from the day plus a bunch of photos from the bike museum. We'll be milking them for content as the rainy season hits Japan over the next few weeks.
