The Final Countdown

After some serious rain in Nara yesterday we headed out on the damp and humid Nara Cycle Road this afternoon for a quick spin on the final day of 30DaysOfBiking...

Grey skies over Nara

After battling through all the f*cking caterpillars hanging around today our ride took us past a spooky abandoned farm house...

In A Beautiful Place Out In The Country

Out riding under blue skies down to the hidden gem that is the Gokoku Jinja in Nara today...

A stunningly beautiful shrine hidden away in a forest about 20 minutes by bike southeast of Nara City...

Steps leading up to the shrine.

Panorama of main shrine grounds.

Camouflage

As someone said elsewhere, this is the"Year Of The Camo". Yep, it is everywhere, from cross bikes to full bouncers. So as we patiently wait for the arrival of the new Mutiny Bikes camo range, we thought we would document this obvious "trend"while hanging out at Guell in Nara today.
From bar tape...

To pedals...

Locks...

Saddles...

Eclat
WTB
Coalition
From gloves...

Mechanix
Even wallets...

Sunday
And obviously bags, bum bags or fanny packs if you will...

Saddle packs...

And frame bags...

Fairweather.
Even hints of camo appearing on t-shirts...

Animal
And just because he is always one step ahead of the fashion crowd, on Toshio-san's shoes...

Keeping up our tentative song/post title theme (sorry about this)...

Street Fighting, Man!

Spotted and snapped on a backstreet out in Higashiosaka by Brad yesterday, this well loved Kalavinka...

All the usual parts on board, Nitto bars, Dura Ace cranks, Shimano RSX front brake...

...And just to piss off the purists, a freewheel!

We're still doing that tentative song title/post title thing...

Unknown Pleasures

Spotted in Nara last week locked up outside a local supermarket, this cool little...erm...well we are not sure what to call it, a tourer? A porteur? A mini-randonneur? Whatever it is it sure is nice...

All we can tell you is it has a Sturmey rear hub, Araya possibly 24" or 26" rims and a Brooks style saddle...
